Just a wild thought (one of those sorts of thoughts that cross your mind at 2:30 in the morning as you look through various boards)... Pirates of the Carribean. Yes, with the swashbuckling and sword fighting and high seas and of course, rum.
Really I just want to see what everyone would be like in that setting, because some really interesting thoughts are happening here... someone please tell me this is a really good idea.

Oh, duuude... I'm a derp. I totally forgot about my underused alien-mermaid OC, Syrinx! I 'd like to toss her into this, if no one objects? :3 I mean, mermaids and pirates go together like peanut butter and jelly -- right?

Mermaids are part of the plot of the 4th Pirates film (if you haven't seen it, I suggest doing so as it is better than you're probably expecting)

Just to check, we are talking about a pirate themed thread, correct? Or are we talking about a crossover?

In my head it's pirate-themed, inspired by the films and some of the general historical things... so like you'd have some who are pirates, some who work for the Crown or East India Co., the grey area between the two, blacksmith, run a pub somewhere... whatever floats your boat (no pun intended). Its a bit lawless in the Carribean, who knows what could happen

"Dibs on the role of the sexy pirate captain no man could tame, until she met him!" Seriously, awesome. Oh, and in a largely dead thread I was working on with Leela as the ninth Doctor, I proposed that the Fountain of Youth is real. Because the Sisterhood of Karn managed to transport the Cavern of the Sacred Flame to Earth, just before the Daleks blew up the twin suns of Gallifrey and launched the final assault on the Time Lords. So, yeah. We can totally do a version of On Stranger Tides. Ideally the original novel, and not the movie.

I... didn't even know there was a novel involved. Shame on me *googles the book and resolves to find and read it* Still, the film was good fun and there's no rule saying we can't pull from multiple sources as inspiration (so many awesome historical female pirates). After all isn't fiction just pulling the good bits into something you like?

Anyone have any ideas/preferences regarding how to begin?

It should begin on a pirate ship, bearing down on a fleeing Spanish galleon, of course.
"Hoist the colors!"

Naturally, if you have pirates its gotta start off with some pirate things happening.
On an unrelated note I have that whole song memorized and the lyrics written down

Okay, so... We've got: - Midway
- Kikilia
- Emil
- Syrinx
(More than that will probably bog things down). What do we think of this?: Earth. 1700s. The dread pirate Kilkilia and the handsome rogue known as Emil [ and their crew? Including Midway? Not sure how you might like to bring her in, m'dear...] are sailing the seven seas in search of the famous Fountain of Youth (which will require a mermaid). [From Wikipedia] "The Fountain's water must be consumed simultaneously from the two special, silver chalices. Any individual drinking from the chalice containing a mermaid's tear has their life extended, while the other dies, their life drained from their body and remaining years 'donated' to the other." [ I suppose if the one who gets drained of their lifeforce is a Time Lord, they may simply regenerate?] ~~~ Just a thought -- what does everyone think? Lame, or not lame? Additions? Subtractions? Revisions?
