Seems reasonable to me... and I admit that I had a bit of a different idea about how this would work, but I go with the flow. So now I just gotta figure out how to get Midway there... so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm open. Mostly because I'm not all that terribly creative at times.

Hmm... Come to think of it, I'm not quite sure how Syrinx is going to just magically appear there, either...
I'll sleep on it. <3

... I still want to do this, but I'm afraid that without Emil around, we will need a new pirate.
Any takers?

Lacking a pirate, will a Corsair do?

Ah, Corsair beat me to it! Oh well, to the victor, the spoils. If, however, you would like a cameo appearance at some point, Cai is quite good at the swashing and the buckling

Okay, so... We've got: - Midway
- Kikilia
- The Corsair
- Syrinx - the mermaid
What do we think of this?: Earth. 1700s. The dread pirate Kilkilia and the handsome rogue known as the Corsair [ and their crew? Including Midway? Not sure how you might like to bring her in, m'dear...] are sailing the seven seas in search of the famous Fountain of Youth (which will require a mermaid). [From Wikipedia] "The Fountain's water must be consumed simultaneously from the two special, silver chalices. Any individual drinking from the chalice containing a mermaid's tear has their life extended, while the other dies, their life drained from their body and remaining years 'donated' to the other." [ I suppose if the one who gets drained of their lifeforce is a Time Lord, they may simply regenerate? Or, perhaps this is a death that a Time Lord cannot regenerate from?] First said: It should begin on a pirate ship, bearing down on a fleeing Spanish galleon, of course. "Hoist the colors!"
~~~ What does everyone think? Lame, or not lame? Additions? Subtractions? Revisions? Do we want to invite one of our resident Baddies (or Cai? or someone who really REALLY wants to regenerate their Time Lord?) to also seek out the Fountain of Youth?
Random thought, here...
A while back, I started (but never got to complete) a thread with the Ninth Doctor that postulated the Fountain of Youth was the Sacred Flame of the Sisters of Karn. My thinking was that the Sisters had evacuated the Sacred Flame in the final days of the Last Great Time War, since (according to the novelization of The Brain of Morbius), Karn was in the same solar system as Gallifrey.
We all know from recent events on TV that Karn survived the Last Great Time War. But, suppose they did evacuate the Flame. And then they lost it. That would explain why two Time Lords are looking for the Fountain of Youth - to return it to the Sisterhood. Midway could then be there because Kiki just asked a question like "Hey, wanna visit Florida?" (She probably wouldnt' mention the "in the 17th century" part...)
The mermaids could have discovered the Sacred Flame and the healing and life-extending properties of the elixir it produces, giving us mermaid Sisters of the sacred Flame. No doubt, they'd have little to no interest in yielding up the Flame. I'm not sure how Syrinx would fit into that scenario, though.
Why would Cai be there? Well, he's not exactly the most stable person, is he? Perhaps he's heard of the elixir as well, and is hoping it can repair the psychological damage inflicted on him by the Time Lords. And since the Flame only produces a small quantity of elixir, then he's going to be the one to get it. Because it goes good with tacos. Who doesn't love tacos, right?
Thoughts?
I like it... and Kiki could explain the whole Sacred Flame thing to Midway, maybe not in detail of course cause COMPLICATED HISTORY THANKS, but enough for the newsie to be impressed by the tale (and make a crack about what a headline that'd be).
As a note, if anyone needs the lyrics to 'Hoist the Colors', I have them written down accurately.
I'm definitely liking it, and 'mermaid Sisters of the sacred Flame'? Corsair's ears just perked waaay up So, does the Sisterhood contact Corsair, Kikilia and Cai separately to ask them to retrieve it, for the sake of increasing the chances of success? Does Cai find out on his own and decides to give it a shot ? Do any of us somehow know Syrinx who finds out about the Flame and asks them to take it off the hands of the other mermaids because it's warping them? Also, call me sentimentalist but in case of Time Lords I'd vote for regeneration... Corsair usually travels alone but if she needs to accidentally pick someone up let me know
