Doctor Who stories tend to be big. Usually, at least one world is in danger. Sometimes, the existence of the Universe itself hangs in the balance.
And sometimes, there is an Event.
The Three Doctors. The Key to Time. The Five Doctors. Trial of a Time Lord. Journey's End. The End of Time. Miracle Day. Big, sprawling, multi-thread stories that can involve dozens of characters going different directions.
1. To start an event, post in the OOC Planning Folder with the following information:
Most Events will take place in the general Events IC Folder. If you feel that your Event will be big enough to warrant it, or if it becomes big enough and active enough to warrant it, you may PM a Moderator to request a separate folder for your event. We don't guarantee that you'll get one, but a strong case can get it done.
2. Events should plan on being accessible to the entire board. You can invite specific people to join, but it should be open to anyone who's willing to play in the specific overall plot.
3. If you're joining an Event, you're agreeing to play in the specific overall plot. If you don't like it, don't wreck everyone else's fun. Just drop out.
4. Plan to keep it PG-13 or under. If a 16+ thread seems to evolve out of events, just plan on taking it to that board.
5. The Event can be a little "looser" with Doctor Who canon than the regular boards. If your event plot is "Thanos recruits an army of Daleks to destroy Marvel Earth, and only Doctor Who and the Avengers can stop him", go to town. Just be sure to have some sort of in-plot explanation, and let everything go back to the way it should be when it's over.
6. You don't have to have an Event to do a crossover with some other show/book/whatever. Most of the boards have a "Crossovers with..." sub-board already anyway. If you're planning a plot with just a couple of players, one that can easily be accommodated by the crossover board (or the regular board), feel free to do it there.
7. Canon is remarkably loose on this board, and there has never been a requirement to assume that history carries over from one thread to the next. A lot of us do assume that, but you don't have to. So, that still applies here.
8. Stay in character, and have fun.

1. To start an event, post in the OOC Planning Folder with the following information:
- Name of the thread.
- Teaser information (think the two to three sentence "flavor text" on a paperback cover)
- A synopsis of the events driving the overall plot. You don't have to give the twists you have in mind away, but it should be enough to give people a sense of what is going on.
