"Here," he said, undoing his swordbelt and handing it over. "It's not much of a fencing blade, but it should serve you well."
Iris graciously accepted the sword. It wasn’t anything fancy – no jewels or ornate carving, or anything like that adorned the weapon. It was plain and simple, and Iris assumed quite efficient at being deadly.
“Yes, let’s follow them – see who they take us to,” Iris agreed – and then, she saw the armored form of Flynn Delta exit his TARDIS and go tromping off after the creatures, not at all trying to hide. In fact, he busted out all commando-like, shooting up the creatures with his armor’s impressive guns and creating quite a scene.
“So much for subtlety…” Iris commented with a causal roll of her eyes. “I don’t suppose we could just let him go on ahead of us and take down those critters… save us the effort, and all…” Iris sort of proposed, looking at Ramachulainn before they got too close to the creatures to change their minds.

Phoenix felt her energy wane, she knew she probably was going to die and it didn't help when some guy in heavy armor started shooting everything in sight. Bullets ricocheted, some hitting the cyberforms but many of them ended up hitting her as well. At any time Phoenix might have been grateful but this time she wasn't. She had been in war before and knew what friendly fire was. If she had any energy left, she'd get really peeved off at the idiot that was firing not just at the cyberforms but at her as well.
She finally collapsed in a heap, breathing heavily, covered in blood. For some odd reason she began to laugh. Of all the dumb luck, she didn't expect to be taken down by some stupid primitive metal lifeforms. She always expected to die by Daleks or by one of her targets she was told to kill. But if she was going to die, hey at least their were other Time Lords around. It would at least make regenerating just a bit more easy.

“So much for subtlety…” Iris commented with a causal roll of her eyes.
Ramachulainn flinched, just a little, at the flying projectiles. "Flynn Delta - former Lord President Flynn Delta - has been known for many things. But subtlety is not one of those things."
“I don’t suppose we could just let him go on ahead of us and take down those critters… save us the effort, and all…”
"No," he smiled, "I'm afraid not. The other Time Lord must be in those rocks over there, right in his line of... fire..." His voice trailed away, and then he snarled something obscene in Low Gallifreyan. "Lord President!" he shouted, throwing himself out from behind cover and racing towards the low run of rocks, "Cease fire! Cease fire!"
The closest of the cyberforms whirred and wheeled, leaping for him. He burned it out of the air with a quick bolt from his stazer and lept over the smoking carcass, then shot two more that eyed him speculatively. The others were distracted, either by their injuries or by their gustatory interest in the injured.
The first thing he saw, as he neared the rim of the rocks, was a great deal of orange-red blood. That was followed by a Time Lady - one that looked extremely familiar, although he was concentrating far more on her condition than on her appearance - badly wounded, covered with blood, and surrounded by dead cyberforms.
He dropped to the ground next to her, checking the Time Lady's pulses. Weak. Erratic. Bad signs. Not that the gunshot and talon wounds were good signs. He began to unpack his medical kit. "Iris? Flynn?" he called, "Do either of you have reasonable medical facilities aboard? We'll..."
He did a double take, his mind registering the woman's features under the mask of pain and blood.
"Ashlynn?" His voice was both shocked and a little frantic. "Rod and Eye! Ashlynn!"

Phoenix coughed a bit and her eyes opened weakly, recognizing faintly the voice that called her name. Her true name, their were only a few that knew her by that name.
Listless, all her energy was gone she groaned a bit, "Rumors of my untimely demise have been exaggerated....." She said faintly in dark humor, "But not by much....."
She coughed some more, and blood came out of her mouth. "I don't think....." she coughed and more blood came forth, "I am bleeding.....bad. I don't think......." She coughed, "Help......." She managed to grasp onto Ramachulainn's hand, "Regenerate.....I am..." She said softly, "Scared.."
The great Phoenix scared of regenerating. She could talk about fading out of non-existence, and face death unflinching but facing it dead on and actually dying and regenerating for real. She was scared, scared of having all her cells burning up, scared that she'd end up going mad, not that she wasn't already. She was already psychotic, but what if dying and being reborn, she lost more of herself and what of the new Phoenix that would come out of this? Would she even know herself? For all the death she had face, she had never liked the fact of dying and coming back as a new person., and even though she had faced the brink of death, she had always managed to cheat the whole regeneration thing, but this time it didn't look likely.

”…The other Time Lord must be in those rocks over there, right in his line of... fire..." His voice trailed away, and then he snarled something obscene in Low Gallifreyan. "Lord President!" he shouted, throwing himself out from behind cover and racing towards the low run of rocks, "Cease fire! Cease fire!"
Iris’ eyes went wide and she gasped with horror when they both realized that the other Time Lord was at risk of being shot by Ramachulainn’s Time Lord friend with the steampunk-stormtrooper armor. She took off running after Ramachulainn, taking care not to trip over the sword she was now lugging around.
He swiftly dealt with the oncoming cyberforms, dispatching them with his stazer, and then he went to the side of the fallen Time Lord… err, Lady. Iris took up a defensive position with the sword, intending to provide cover to Ramachulainn and the bloodied woman, while at the same time she glared at Flynn Delta.
Iris could REALLY use a drink about now…
"Iris? Flynn?" he called, "Do either of you have reasonable medical facilities aboard? We'll..." Ramachulainn asked, trailing off as recognition hit him – he knew this Time Lady.
“I do… Let’s get her to my TARDIS, and then I’ll go with Mr. Trigger-Happy over here and get that interdimensional tow-rope secured onto his TARDIS,” Iris offered gently.
"Help......." She managed to grasp onto Ramachulainn's hand, "Regenerate.....I am..." She said softly, "Scared.."
Iris frowned with concern and glanced to Ramachulainn and said, “You won’t want to be too close when she regenerates – it’s quite a violent process, but don’t worry. She’ll be quite fine, though she may look and sound a bit different…”
“But, trust me. She’ll be fine – she won’t even need a medical facility,” Iris concluded. “But you might, if you don’t give her some space…”

"Rumors of my untimely demise have been exaggerated....." She said faintly in dark humor, "But not by much....."
He gripped her hand for a moment, shaking his head in disbelief. "I tried to find you," he said, voice barely louder than a whisper. "At the end, when the transduction barriers came down." The pain of the memories, memories he'd refused to look at for centuries, threatened to overwhelm him. "But I didn't know where you were, and the Specialist had called me." He choked on the next words. "And I chose Duty. Duty, and a hope for the future."
"Don't be," he said, softly. "I'm here. I'll be right here."
Iris frowned with concern and glanced to Ramachulainn and said, “You won’t want to be too close when she regenerates – it’s quite a violent process, but don’t worry. She’ll be quite fine, though she may look and sound a bit different…”
Ramachulainn gave Iris a peculiar look. "I've regenerated once myself, and I've seen several Guards under my command regenerate, during the War. I'd hardly call it a violent process. More like the end result of a violent process."
“But, trust me. She’ll be fine – she won’t even need a medical facility,” Iris concluded. “But you might, if you don’t give her some space…”
"It's simple cellular reconstruction," Ramachulainn insisted. He looked down at the dying woman. "And I abandoned her once, Iris. For Duty. I won't leave her again."
(OOC: Ramachulainn has never seen one of the violent, new series regenerations. Just the calmer, classic series regenerations. He has no idea.)

(ooc: Hmmm now I am not sure if I should go for the more simple or the more atomic bomb like regen..... ack.... Well considering that Phoenix is well....Phoenix's burn up and reborn.....so I am guessing that's probably the way she's going to be, all violently explosive. lol) IC: Phoenix started convulsing quite violently, she had never regenerated before and wasn't sure what she was suppose to do. and then energy started slowly coming from all over. She whimpered lightly. "I......don't.....like.....this.....doesn't feel.....right.....at all...." And suddenly she felt like a burning ember ignited and being broiled and burnt alive. And then she blacked out. And then the new Phoenix appeared for all to see. The next thing she remembered was her eyes opening and looking around with a half confused look. She coughed a bit, and a wisp of energy came out of her mouth. "I think I.....am going to be sick....." She began to retch violently but her stomach was empty and so nothing came out. She ended up gasping for air, the wave of nausea passing, she finally managed to stand up and heard the shooting off in the distance and her eyes narrowed in anger, "Stupid.......idiot. I was perfectly fine till he started shooting. What does he have in his brains, fluff? Because apparently, for a Time Lord, he doesn't have any. I mean what idiot starts shooting at "metal" creatures and doesn't think.....ooh that could ricochet and kill someone. " Phoenix looked over and saw the other woman, a flask close by, "Is that what I think it is?" Because Phoenix suddenly wanted a drink, something good, hard and particularly habit-forming. After all, she had just died and revived and was feeling quite peevish as it was. "I could.....well use a drink." She frowned for a moment"I don't even know if I like alcohol, but, I am craving it, for some odd reason. Never really liked it before.." Phoenix snorted and looked at Ramachulainn, "And duty......I thought you were dead. I had nobody to go back to but to my Lord. My mission and my dev....." She paused a moment. she doubted that Ramachulainn wanted to hear about her lord. "You're not the only one with promises to keep, I was told to stop the one who caused our home's death. Well I couldn't stop him, but, I was ordered to kill him. It was the last order I received and I intend on fulfilling it, even if it takes all my lives to do it. " Phoenix felt such a rush of vitality, one she had never felt in such a long time, perhaps she needed to regenerate a long time ago.

"It's simple cellular reconstruction," Ramachulainn insisted. He looked down at the dying woman. "And I abandoned her once, Iris. For Duty. I won't leave her again."
Iris pursed her lips in protest, but… Ramachulainn clearly wasn’t going to listen, so she didn’t bother to say anything. She simply shrugged and thought, ‘suit yourself…’, because it sounded like love was involved, and if that was the case… well, Iris wouldn’t be able to convince him otherwise, no matter what.
Love was a very powerful thing – and not something that Iris wished to interfere with. Ramachulainn would either see what was about to happen and get out of the way, or he wouldn’t – and that would be his choice.
The regeneration happened quickly – there was a bright flare-up of energy, and in its wake lay a new woman with some very impressive orange hair and gorgeous eyes.
"Is that what I think it is? I could... well use a drink." She frowned for a moment. “I don't even know if I like alcohol, but I am craving it for some odd reason. Never really liked it before..."
Iris grinned, relieved that it was over, and that no one else got hurt, and she was quite amused at the Phoenix’s sudden craving for alcohol.
“It’s gin – help yourself, honey,” she said, walking a bit closer and kneeling down to share her flask with the other Time Lady.
“I think I have a mirror in here somewhere…” Iris said, beginning to dig around in her purse – which was, after all, bigger on the inside… After a moment, she fished out a compact mirror and held it out towards the freshly regenerated woman. “Here, I thought you might like to see how you turned out – which is very well, I daresay,” Iris offered, giving her a compliment and then flashing her beau a little wink before taking a few steps away to give the couple some privacy.
“Oi! Flynn, was it? You done with those bug-things? I understand your TARDIS could use a tow back to civilization…” she called out to the armored Time Lord.

"I......don't.....like.....this.....doesn't feel.....right.....at all...."
"It's because you're dying," Ramachulainn told her, squeezing her hand gently. "There's no way to make that feel right."
Her hand and arm went limp, and her head lolled to the side. He'd seen this, thousands of times, in the War. But it didn't make it any easier to watch.
And then, by sheer reflex, he released her hand and scrambled away as she exploded into flames. A blinding glare cast by her burning body forced him to cover his eyes with his forearm. "Rassilon," he snarled, voice frantic. "What did that mwacan sgobiatdahn do to you?"
But it was over as quickly as it had begun. Like her namesake she had been transformed by the flames, becoming a compact young-looking woman with bright orange hair. She looked at him, and his world seemed to stand still as she opened her mouth to speak.
"I think I.....am going to be sick....."
"Ah," Ramachulainn said, offering her handkerchief to wipe her mouth with, "romance." It really didn't surprise him that the first thing she wanted to do was castigate the "idiot" with the chain gun.
"In all fairness," he pointed out, "I don't believe the Lord President had realized you were here. He did keep Lady Iris and myself out of the firing line."
She really didn't seem in a mood to be fair, though. Which he didn't think he could blame her for.
"Is that what I think it is? I could... well use a drink." She frowned for a moment. “I don't even know if I like alcohol, but I am craving it for some odd reason. Never really liked it before..."
“It’s gin – help yourself, honey,” Iris said, walking a bit closer and kneeling down to share her flask with the other Time Lady.
"Gin's a terrible place to start with alcohol," Ramachulainn added. "Zelenyĭ drakon is much better." He paused. "But it needs absinthe and vodka."
"She's right," Ramachulainn told the Phoenix. "I mean, I don't think I'd have cared regardless. But you look... good."
Phoenix snorted and looked at Ramachulainn, "And duty......I thought you were dead. I had nobody to go back to but to my Lord. My mission and my dev....." She paused a moment.
He let the comment about Rassilon pass by. "I couldn't find you," he repeated. "At the end. I couldn't find you. And the Specialist had need of me..."
"You're not the only one with promises to keep, I was told to stop the one who caused our home's death. Well I couldn't stop him, but, I was ordered to kill him. It was the last order I received and I intend on fulfilling it, even if it takes all my lives to do it. "
At the moment, he didn't care. Words didn't seem enough, and at this instant he found he didn't care what Rassilon's dying orders had been. Instead, he just took her in his arms and kissed her.

Phoenix grabbed the handkerchief with a quick flourish and wiped her mouth for any leftover traces of anything that might be moist.
"Lord president indeed....." Phoenix snorted, in her mind their was only one Lord President, and that was....well she was pretty sure Ramachulainn knew so she didn't bother going into details. "And you're actually following this idiot. Let me guess.....because after the death of our home you just decided you didn't have anything better to do then follow an idiot."
"Now where's that drink?"
“It’s gin – help yourself, honey,” Iris said, walking a bit closer and kneeling down to share her flask with the other Time Lady.
Phoenix took the flask and helped herself to a hearty dose of the liquid that was contained within the metal container. It burned with it's own fire and warmed her up inside. She coughed a bit, not quite use to it though and a few errant strands of regenerative energy managed to come out as well.
"Gin's a terrible place to start with alcohol," Ramachulainn added. "Zelenyĭ drakon is much better." He paused. "But it needs absinthe and vodka."
Phoenix took another swallow of the liquid and then handed the flask back to its owner.
"She's right," Ramachulainn told the Phoenix. "I mean, I don't think I'd have cared regardless. But you look... good."
Phoenix looked at the image that reflected itself back at her. Her hands went to her hair. "Orange....."
She looked a bit confused. not sure who she was anymore. Well she knew who she was but not really. Not truly, she was Phoenix but....well other than that everything else ended.
He let the comment about Rassilon pass by. "I couldn't find you," he repeated. "At the end. I couldn't find you. And the Specialist had need of me..."
Phoenix looked annoyed. she wasn't sure if she felt the same anymore about her lover. She well she felt different. Not quite fully the same. She had heard of regenerative shock but never had experienced it before.
And then old feelings came back, feelings she had thought died but she remembered, remembered the wilds of Gallifrey. The times of where she had shared secret and forbidden moments with Ramachulainn and she wanted those feelings to continue but.... and she suddenly pushed him away from her. "It would have been better if.....we hadn't met.....like this."
She bit her lip, "I let you go." She paused a moment and then said, "I don't know who I am anymore. I am Phoenix but....who am I? Everything is mixed up in my head." She said softly, "I don't even know if I still love you. I think I do.....but I don't know. I feel like a child learning how to walk again."

Zeta Minor. Still. The planet was still nearby the red supergiant, and Omega himself had been busy for so long, trying to get his systems to work, abusing the abandoned space station, and keeping his delicious armor in case he'd have a use for it. Of course he would. It was great armor, and considering he was successful in the biota swap, he'd have fun with this.
"I... wait..." Omega suddenly lifted up his head, his creepy minions nearby shuffling around. "....I SENSE TIME LORDS!"He bellowed, whipping around to the anti-matter monsters (including the one he had taken under his wing during the Zeta Minor incident), and he cackled.
"I haven't sensed any in eons! This is... this is MY CHANCE!" He then sat down in his awesome throne of doom before he leaned back.
".. Our teleportation devices will be activated now!" He pressed a few buttons (man, why couldn't he get a slave to do this for him) before waiting for the energy transfer to be complete. After all he had enough of it from the dying star, and he could pull it off now. "I want to see... if this works. I've done it before! I WILL DO IT... AGAIN!"

She suddenly pushed him away from her. "It would have been better if.....we hadn't met.....like this."
Ramachulainn looked surprised. "Well, true," he agreed carefully. "I t would have been far better to meet somewhere nice. One of the worlds of the Medusa Cascade, maybe." He knew that wasn't what she was talking about, though.
She bit her lip, "I let you go." She paused a moment and then said, "I don't know who I am anymore. I am Phoenix but....who am I? Everything is mixed up in my head."
He nodded sympathetically, remembering his own disorientation when he'd been plungered to death.
She said softly, "I don't even know if I still love you. I think I do.....but I don't know. I feel like a child learning how to walk again."
"I understand," he said, equally softly. Then he crooked a small smile at her. "Really, I do. I've been through this once myself. but I hope, if you aren't sure that you still love me, that you'll allow me to try to win you again." He drew the gauntlet from his right hand, revealing a livid white scar on the palm of his hand. "I still feel you with me. Still want to feel you with me."

Phoenix's eyes lit up at the scar and a memory stirred within her and she curled her hand around his. "Bonded by blood....." She said softly. "Yes.....I remember now." Her eyes lowered, "Do you still carry my dagger?" She quietly rested her head upon his chest. "I've been caught up too much by duty, it has made me forget...." She paused, "When I thought I lost you.....I had nothing else to fall back on." She sighed, "I am tired.....but I am driven by my orders. But my orders make me tired." She then said softly in his ear in a dead whisper, "Today.....was the first time I cursed my Lord. I......thought it would kill me. But it did not. I passed out. Course that didn't stop those mechanical monsters.....killing me."
Phoenix paused a moment and then shivered lightly and looked from the right and to the left. "Someone is watching us. I feel it....." She put a finger to her head. "In here......"

Flynn stopped, confident he had killed the beasts, he had become over exited, it had been about two incarnations sense he used "Ole' Reliable" (The Minigun.)
He walked over to Iris, carrying his helmet in between his arm and side. His face lit up when he saw Iris.
" Well I'll be... Iris? Is that you? How are you it's been a while since "The Berlin incident" hasn't it? Wait... Your face your younger... Crap. You haven't met me yet have you?"

Iris smiled as the handsome Flynn Delta strode over to her, looking much less menacing and dangerous with his weapon down and his helmet off. Surprisingly, he seemed to already know her and spoke of 'The Berlin Incident' - whatever that was...
But it sounded fun! Perhaps it was something she had to look forward to? Unless it was something that had already happened, but she had forgotten all about it because she'd been wasted - and it takes an awful lot of alcohol for a Time Lord to get drunk-ish.
Iris smiled and tilted her head questioningly towards Flynn. "Younger?" she asked. "Well... I do tend to hold off on regenerating until I absolutely have to," Iris added with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
Neither one of them probably knew that Flynn was older than Iris by almost one thousand years... This 'Berlin Incident' could very feasibly have occurred in Iris' past or future...
Either way, Iris couldn't quite recall this man. This felt like her first time meeting him, but... she could be wrong.
"Perhaps it's something to look forward to," she said with a grin. "Gin?" she offered, holding out her flask to him. She'd only just gotten it back from the Phoenix, who seemed to be having a little Tete`-a-tete´ with Ramachulainn.
"Oh! And, I can help with your TARDIS - I heard it could use a tow back to civilization, unless you've fixed it, of course," Iris added cheerily.
