Araste would admit that the dimension cannon was not her finest work. It was inelegant in design, relying on brute force much like a simple hammer might. And a hammer applied to a loom might separate a single strand or three, but selecting those strands was nigh impossible.
So truthfully, even when Rose had discovered the key to her mind and freed her from simple three dimensional thinking, Araste had not been overly confident of their success. At the same time, she did feel as if she owed the woman a chance at happiness. Better she find this man she trusted so deeply beyond any of her understandings. Better she leave this reality behind, for Arastemakatarnih was not being left to rot by the decision of some mightier than thou politicians.
There were possibilities, whispering at her. If only she could concentrate...
Closing her eyes, Araste rubbed at the grit along her lashline with the heels of her palms. There was so much to do. Too much to allow for the rest she had grown accustomed to as a human, not that she really needed it.
Pushing on her glasses, she reviewed her latest work. A particularly tricky bit of programming that should allow her to find a certain lupine friend of hers. Because for some reason, she had returned as well as the remnants of this Torchwood base but separately.
She knew not because her co-workers (if that was even the right term) had said, but because at the edge of all her minds was a most peculiar feeling. The feeling of being not quite alone.
There was another with a Time Lord mind in this universe, and she could only assume that Rose Tyler had found her Doctor.
And if she had learned nothing else, it was that experiments could have nasty side effects, even on something as localized as one body. This current project? Probably not a good idea to leave someone with an escape route who might even be helpful out of the loop. She didn't know what the effects might be this time.
"Rosie~" she called in a sing song voice, waiting for her signal to track down her now ex-boss.
