That sounds like a cruel thing to do to our rebellious young turk of an ancient-looking first Doctor, Emilie.
I love it.
Now, we just need to convince Susan and come up with a plot!

I'm glad you approve! ;]
Well, Amy liked the post, so I have hopes for Susan. xD
As for a plot.. hmnn.. I'm googling various Doomsday fears of the 2000s, seeing as Emilie is stuck on Earth. This one came up:
"May 5, 2000
In case the Y2K bug didn't do us in, global catastrophe was assured by Richard Noone, author of the 1997 book "5/5/2000 Ice: the Ultimate Disaster." According to Noone, the Antarctic ice mass would be three miles thick by May 5, 2000 — a date in which the planets would be aligned in the heavens, somehow resulting in a global icy death (or at least a lot of book sales). Perhaps global warming kept the ice age at bay."
I'm pretty flexible plot wise though. I'm totally here for the angst. And to see Emilie confused and tripping over herself. Y'know.. that too.

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
Yes! Awesome! Is there a UNIT, though? The Brig didn't get the idea to create it until after he and the second Doctor went up against the Great Intelligence in "The Web of Fear".
But I'm nitpicking. The Doctor and Susan, drafted into helping an organization he's never heard of, alongside his wife and her granddaughter before she ever made it to Gallifrey. Oh, and they're up against an ice age, and you know what that means...
Ice Warriors. AmIright?
Has Emilie helped Nine defend the Silurians from the Ice Warriors yet? Because that could put us in an awkwardinteresting position where she knows more about the threat than he does.

I was tossing about the idea of this taking place before Emilie joined UNIT, possibly before she even meets Eleven (properly). I really fancy the idea of their being a meeting wherein the Doctor recognizes Emilie and she has no idea who he is, and privately thinking he must be a bit senile to believe in aliens. Cosmic payback. Failing that, after Nine but before she rejoins Eleven would work. Mind you, she'd be shaky post Valeyard there.
UNIT!Emilie might be a fun follow up, but her angst over not knowing what she is -wrinkles nose-. It isn't as beautiful to me as I'm Human!Emilie and You Lot Are Bonkers. So pre-Eleven or post-Nine and Valeyard work best from my end of things. Mind you, post-Valeyard Emilie is right traumatized by 'the Doctor'.
I like tearing their hearts out into little bitty pieces. I'm such a nice writer.
.. on the note of UNIT, before UNIT there was something called LONGBOW? I think?? We could still conscript them. It's not as if Emilie is likely to be completely unknown, what with how often she's travelled with the Doctor.
Continuing to think aloud - so to speak - in her youth, Emilie often experienced memories out of order. So it wouldn't be a total surprise for her to at least recognize the Ice Warriors even if we went pre-Eleven.
And yesyesyes we should use them as the monster/villain. For sure.

For the record, yes, Susan is totally up for this, and she will happily agree to whatever Emilie and First's Typists would prefer to do.

So... we're going pre-UNIT. I also vote for placing this in the murky pre-An Unearthly Child era of the Doctor's aimless wanderingtravels with Susan, mostly so I don't have to also write Ian. The Ice Warriors are the villians, and the British army is involved. Perhaps we set it in the early 1960s, and have one Major Lethbridge-Stuart getting his first taste of aliens? This, followed by the Web of Fear, is then what drives him to... Hang on. I just found this quote after a Google search for "british military expeditions to antarctica": So, the TARDIS lands in Antarctica in 1958. One Major Lethbridge-Stuart is in the Antarctic as the Intelligence Officer for the observation team from the British Army attached to the American nuclear tests in Queen Maude Land. Officially, they're there to test a new nuclear weapon. Beneath that cover story, they're there to ensure that Operation Highjump really did deal with the Nazi Final Redoubt - but that's a cover for the actual purpose of the mission. Because the Nazi Geheimnisgruppe-Schutzstaffel had uncovered something here, back in 1939, that could have changed the whole face of the war. Green Aryans, the SS-G called them. Green Aryans, and the messengers of the god Tyr to the Reich.

Hmn... I really like it, and I definitely agree with pre-Unearthly Child. Back when the chameleon circuit was still functioning, even!
My only remaining hang up is time wise. Emilie 'begins' closer to the 2000s. But that's not insurmountable. She can either slip through time on her own (no doubt surprising Major Lethbridge-Stewart and his men), or meet up with you two. Preferences?

Well, pre-UNIT Emilie has still met the Doctor, right? Perhaps the Doctor and Susan land in the 2000s, and they pop out to look around. Emilie, meanwhile, spots the TARDIS and heads for it (perhaps thinking Eleven or Nine have returned). Idris would certainly open the door for her, even if it's locked. The Doctor and Susan return, Emilie's still trying to figure out why the TARDIS is rocking it's retro-futuristic wallpaper, and then they're off.
Why?
Who knows? A fault in the dematerialization systems, perhaps. The Doctor claimed in a Big Finish story that Time Lords simply introduced viruses into renegade TARDISes to degrade their performance, so maybe it starts up on it's own. Or maybe Idris, unable to really comprehend the difference between Emilie-now and Emiliegunnar-then and Emiliegunnar-to-be, decides she's tired of her thief being all cranky and unhappy and decides to take off on her own to give her thief and her daughter some alone time.
You don't get much more alone than Antarctica. In theory, at least.

That's true, pre-UNIT Emilie would be right after Nine and the Valeyard. I don't *think* I ever clarified when she rejoined Eleven. If I did, I'm willing to strike it from the record.
I love it so much. And I'm extremely amused by the thought that Idris would just decide they need time together. (Sounds logical to me.~)
Would the TARDIS still look like a police box? Or do you want Emilie to explore the strange vworping sound coming from a car or bus stop or something?

I'm assuming that Idris has already seen the Police Box, decided she likes the classic lines and that the color really brings out her Vortex Scanners, and stopped responding to the chameleon circuits. The distinctive sound may be what first catches Emilie's eye (ear?), though.
Susan, dear? What do you think?
