Phyzhiengsa are a humanoid species native to the planet Yshier. They are the only known species from which the ability of Resonance appears naturally.
Appearance and Biology
The Phyzhiengsa appear outwardly as human but are extremely long-lived, some living to be nearly 900 years old. Beyond their long lives, they possess enhanced cardiovascular and adrenal systems which provide them with superior stamina which in turn only requires them to sleep for a comparatively short amount of time to humans (roughly 1/8th the average human’s sleep cycle).
Those who have studied the Phyzhiengsa anatomy have theorized that they share a distant relative with Gallifreyan natives due to having similar respiratory systems with their lungs replaced by a series of pulmonary tubes parallel to the lymphatic system. However, while Gallifreyans have two hearts, the physiology of the Phyzhiengsa show that they may have once possessed a heart but the organ was long ago replaced by five smaller, muscular pods that maintain a complex network of cardiovascular activity, pumping blood through the body (roughly three times the rate of circulation of an average human).
They also share a similar triple-helix DNA coding with Gallifreyans, though there are several key markers and an added nucleic acid with no analogous protein found in any organism outside of Yshier heritage. Due to the unique DNA coding of the Phyzhiengsa and the added nucleic acid, the Phyzhiengsa are highly in tune with the natural vibrations of matter which culturally developed into a heightened sense of understanding and balance of the natural world.

Culture and Society
While Phyzhiengsa do have nations on their home world of Yshier, they mainly exist for the sake of identification of location. Nations among the Phyzhiengsa exist in open peace and trade among each other with no form of actual currency. Goods are traded for other goods as well as services or favors in good will. Value of goods are largely subjective and vary from time to time.
Within the nations, Phyzhiengsa often live in village size communities, each led by two groups; the Council and the Circle.
Council: The Council of a village is comprised of four men, usually elders among the village or members held in exceptional standing under the view of the village. All members of the council are voted on and only accepted to the Council by majority vote of the village. The Council has myriad duties in the village; namely it makes all decisions in regards to disputes and quarrels within the village populace. As well, they establish trade and access routes from one village to another.
Circle: The Circle of a village consists of four women, picked similarly as the Council members. The major focus of the Circle is to identify children with the ability of Resonance and to notify the nearest monastery. They also handle all internal layout plans in regards to construction, crops, irrigation, etc…
All decisions in regards to managing affairs with other villages requires collaboration and a majority vote of both the Council and Circle members as a whole. The Council and Circle meet together every 30 days, as well as in any emergency, to converse and share future plans for the village. Otherwise, the Council and Circle gather in their own individual meetings every 7th day.
Resonants are held in extremely high regards among the Phyzhiengsa, considering their rarity and their abilities. They are honored and respected across Yshier as the very hands of natural order. Monks do not interact with general society on a regular basis. Because of their removal from mainstream society, their many years of study and meditation, and their honored status, the monks are often called upon to mediate between two groups when a peaceful resolve can not be reached on their own.

Home of Origin: Yshier
In spite of its ancient origin, the planet has no official name in any registry, even for those native to to the planet. Natives simply call it Yshier, which in their native tongue roughly translates to “Home.” The planet would be considered an ideal cosmic entity with a perfectly balanced axis and orbit. As such, the planet is in a permanent state of natural order with four even seasonal changes. During its formation the planet was subjected to extreme bursts of cosmic radiation from a rogue black hole which permanently altered the troposphere of the planet. The radiation subsided after a few million years enough to allow growth but its effect on the atmosphere remained. After life began to appear on the planet and new organisms arrived from elsewhere in the universe, the unique radiation began to meld with their very DNA and provided them with unique markers that could only be gained by millions of years of mutation from the planet. While the Phyzhiengsa are theorized to have common ancestry to that of Gallifreyans, there is no known record of Yshier in any database until 307 years ago (relative to Earth Year 1708). The first visitors to Yshier were exploration vessels who were taken off course to intense solar storms.

Religion
Phyzhiengsa do not follow any deities or have any religion to name. However, their physiology provides them with a more in-tuned understanding of natural matter and the physical world. While they do not worship nature, they do have a deep reverence for it. Phyzhiengsa believe that everything in the universe must exist in balance and that all life is created so. They value natural order as a goal to strive for. Resonant Monks, because of their ability to interact with natural matter, are viewed as the very hands of natural order.

Technological Level
Until 307 years ago when Yshier was first discovered by explorers, the Phyzhiengsa never reached more than a 14th century technology level. They live very rural lives and tend to exist in peace with nature rather than focus on technological expansion. However, since the first explorers arrived, small bits of technology have begun to enter their society in areas around the established trade ports. However in most villages across Yshier, though the knowledge of the space-farers has become common, most Phyzhiengsa have never met anyone from space and do not accept trade of technology from the trade ports.

Space Travel
A few Phyzhiengsa have joined trade ships leaving Yshier but most are still wary of leaving. Those that leave rarely ever return. To date, Shan is the only known Resonant to ever leave Yshier (largely against the wishes of the Shixzhun)
