Mel placed her hands on her hips and turned up her nose as the TARDIS vanished before her eyes. She hadn't ever seen the Doctor that mad, enough to throw her out of the ship into what seemed like a random time and place and fly away. The nerve of that man! He hadn't even bothered to tell her where or when was. She sighed, knowing that standing around and pouting over the matter wouldn't help things much. It would be wiser, she thought, to explore her current location and try to figure out what she could do with herself until the Doctor came back to his senses and returned.
Luckily for Mel, he had the decency to drop her off inside a library, or at least that's where she assumed she was. Mel paced through the aisles of books, occasionally poking through the shelves to see she fancied any of the titles enough to pull them off a shelf and give them a read. She made sure to pay attention to the dates of publication on the books which looked newer as they'd serve as clues to what time she was currently in. It seemed that none of the dates went further than the year 2019, which led her to conclude that it was where she was. Or when she was.
Bored with the choices that the library had to offer, Mel headed over to the area in which the computers were kept. The models were sleeker and slimmer than any she'd seen in the 20th century but Mel was sure that the software would be close enough to what she was familiar with. And even if it wasn't, she would learn it pretty quickly.
She took a seat at the nearest desk and maneuvered the mouse cursor over to the icon titled 'Catalog Search' - but something else caught her attention before she could click it. The bottom-right corner of the screen where the time was displayed had begun to artifact, making it impossible to read the digits. Mel moved the cursor towards the glitched part of the screen - but the moment it had touched the area where the numbers should have been, the monitor flickered off.
Mel pulled back and let out a shriek which was short-lived but loud enough to rouse someone's suspicions.
