Angels, why are there always so many in one place?
Oh yes, because they hunt in packs, though not usually this large. The Doctor had made an impulsive mistake this time, grabbing the panicked Emilie and running for it.
Big mistake, the same one he'd made with Martha long ago. Soon enough, it became too late for them, one of the angels, one The Doctor hadn't counted, grabbed them both, stopping the two dead in their tracks.
The Doctor latched onto Emilie immediately as they began flinging backwards in time. Slowly, it stopped, and The Doctor looked up. The setting was all to familiar. It was a laboratory, a brightly lit one. There was a big blue box in the corner, and near it was a well-dressed man with big greyish-white hair, as well as a rather beautiful woman.
The Doctor looked up, then to Emilie, "Well then, welcome back to UNIT headquarters, Emilie Gunnar."

One moment they had been running and she had been keeping her eyes as open as possible since the Doctor kept muttering what sounded like, 'Not again, just don't blink. Don't blink, blink and we're dead'. The next, the world felt wavy and aside from sudden nausea, the world had also changed around them.
Oh look, the TARDIS had come with them. How nice of her to find them... oh, and other people. Well, people were nice. People were supposed to move. Statues weren't.
And then the Doctor was talking as Emilie tried to shake herself into some sort of awareness, if she could get past the ringing as the adrenaline slowly ebbed out of her system.
"UNIT? Doctor, we're not going to have to run from those dogs again, are we? I'm fresh out of treats."

The Doctor had been tinkering with the TARDIS for the better part of the day, tweaking the systems to hopefully make her run more smoothly. Of course he had full faith that the updates were placed perfectly, and as he finished increasing the vector tracker's accuracy, his mind was running through a list of places to go to in order to try them out.
"Well, that about does it, Sarah," he said, walking out of the blue box and cleaning his hands on a rag. "You'll have to forgive me for sparing you of my attention. But now that I'm done, where shall we go?" He stopped at one of the tables to pick up his mug of tea and take a sip. "Sarah?" he asked.
Turning around, he was shocked by the sight of two people sitting on the ground. He took a quick glance around the room, and saw that the doors hadn't been opened. No one had come in. So how had they?
The Doctor took a step towards the pair, a man and a woman, the former of which was dressed in a tweed jacket, bow tie and braces. "Excuse me," he began, "but who are you, and how did you get in here?"

She was coming back with pie when she heard the Doctor call her name. Juggling coffee, napkin, a slice of berry pie, she strode back to his office. Sarah Jane had wondered if he was going to emerge today or not. Pleased he was calling for her, it still didn't keep her from getting in a big bite even as she walked down the short hallway and turned in.
She is chewing, with a bit of berry on her cheek as she looked at the three in the room. One, standing, familiar, two, a handsome young couple, sitting on the floor. Not realizing they had company, Sarah Jane hastily put down her burdens. At least she'd managed to keep the berries off her good brown suit dress.
The Doctor was surprisingly indignant, and she wondered what she'd missed. She had a few questions herself, but she'd have to swallow her bite first.

The Doctor looked to Emilie, she was joking, mostly, but he still answered just about any question she asked. Chuckling, The Doctor shook his head, "No, no dogs, the Brigadier didn't let me bring any dogs in here on short notice. We'll be fine here. Welcome to the 1970s Emilie."
they didn't have long to chat though, as they were already being spoken to by a younger version of himself. Internally, The Doctor's thoughts darkened. This was the third time this had happened in recent memory. Once with the Ponds, twice with Emilie. Why was he running into his past selves so frequently now? Curiouser and curiouser.
"Hello handsome man," The Doctor said to himself, standing up to face his younger regeneration, "I forgot how good your sense of fashion was too. Not enough bow ties, of course, but then again, one can never wear enough. Not enough days in the week."
That's when Sarah Jane arrived in the room, a bit of pie on her cheek. Oh, Sarah Jane Smith, whenever he saw her, he had to take a moment to study her. She was a beautiful woman, as was Emilie. However, there was such a large spot in his hearts for Sarah Jane. He wondered if his third self knew it yet, his fourth was blind as a bat in that regard, that was for sure.
Smiling, he nodded to Sarah Jane before looking back to the younger Doctor, "Well, this is a bit awkward indeed. We seem to have crossed time streams. Can't help it when it comes to Weeping Angels. No need to beat around the bush, I'm you Doctor. The Eleventh, for that matter."

Welcome to the nineteen seventies indeed. Well, at least the room wasn't spinning anymore. Rising a half beat after the Doctor, Emilie straightened out her bright red coat, dusting her slacks, and pushing back any stray locks of hair that had gotten disheveled during their capsule free time trip. She kept an ear out for the Doctor, however, a sudden look of understanding dawning.
"Oh, I see now. So this is when you actually were UNIT's advisor, right? So definitely no dogs. That's reassuring."
Now that she was completely settled, Emilie held out her hand towards this new Doctor and his companion, "Pleasure to meet you."

As the man rambled on, the Doctor raised an eyebrow. His hand went to his own bow tie when the stranger mentioned it, and he subconsciously straightened it. Then the man revealed who he was. "You're me?" he asked. Yes, he could sense that this man was another Time Lord. This should be interesting. "Well, this is delightful! It's not often that I get to meet myself from the future. The only one I remember is meeting our sixth self back when I was in our second body."
Then he saw the beautiful woman standing next to his future self and he warmly shook her hand. "The pleasure is mine," he said with a warm smile. "I'm the Doctor, as I'm sure you're well aware."
And there she was. Sarah Jane Smith, off somewhere while he worked as usual. He waited until she had set her various items down, and he took the opportunity to explain things while she ate the food currently in her mouth. "Sarah," he said, going over to her. "Allow me to introduce: me! From the future." He held his arm out and gestured to the man in front of them.

What the Doctor said was so incomprehensible, that for a moment, it did not penetrate her mind. She simply smiled, shook hands with the shock haired man and the lovely woman in the red coat, trading names all around. Then her smile went a bit frozen as her brain played back the tape of what the Doctor had just said.
"Och, Doctor, don't be ridiculous." She said, but each word came more slowly than the word before it. Perhaps, for someone like the Doctor, it could be true. She frowned at the pair, weighing them. Then she looked wide eyed up to her friend.
"Are you sure?"
She felt the fundament of what she thought to be true about time and space rock under her feet a little. Why, if it were true, that would be incredible.

Emilie caught on quick, and his young self was already speaking to him, so she would have to forgive The Doctor for not answering right away.
It was a pleasure to be running into himself, not doubt, but still very concerning. The Doctor made a very good effort of staying away from his former selves, more so to keep from arguing rather than just the paradox. They could handle a stray paradox now and again, it was disagreeing with one another that was the real problem.
And young Sarah Jane was struggling to believe what he was saying. Chuckling, he turned to her, "I'm as sure that I'm The Doctor you know, as sure as you have an Aunt Liviana and love the smell of hot cedar." He raised his eyebrows a bit playfully, recalling that she would go on to ask him to install that into the TARDIS before she'd left him. He was sure that either Sarah Jane would buy his story, or label him a mad man. However, since both were true, he looked back to himself.
Smiling to the younger Time Lord, the elder spoke up, "I think it's best we sort this out without mental contact. There's a big time difference between us, and thinks that you cannot know until you reach them. Emilie and I were caught by a pack of Weeping Angels, I'm afraid I don't remember if you've run into them or not yet. Odd bunch really, they kill you, by sending you back in time and feed off the energy of where your life could have potentially gone. It's why they're after the TARDIS in my time. Lots of potential."

"Oh, very aware, but it's lovely to meet you," Emilie told his younger self sincerely as he released her hand.
Emilie was much more transfixed by this other Doctor's companion than she was on any of the babble between her Doctor and his younger self.
"Sarah? Are you... I mean, are you Sarah Jane Smith, investigative reporter?"
Her Doctor had told her a few stories about the woman, but Emilie hadn't met her yet.
"And don't worry. The Doctor is always ridiculous. It's why he's so successful."
Holding her hand out to Sarah Jane, Emilie smiled brightly. "I'm Emilie. Pleasure to meet you, and I do hope it's not the last time."

"Of course I'm sure Sarah," the Doctor said in response to his companion's initial disbelief. "You see?" he smiled as his future self proved he indeed knew the girl. And while the girls had their exchange, he went back over to his older version. "Ah, understandable," he nodded. "Wouldn't do any good to reveal anything too important. I'm sure the Time Lords from your time are still as strict on the rules as they are here." He chuckled to himself, clueless as to what would happen to the rest of their race. "No matter, I'm sure we can manage."
Then his brow furrowed in curiosity as the Doctor from the future explained how he and his companion, Emilie, had arrived here. "Weeping Angels...you mean the Lonely Assassins?" the younger asked. "I've never encountered them, though I've heard the legends. None of them good. Are you alright? Must've been dangerous."

There was a thrill in her when Emillie knew who she was, be it from the Doctor himself, or from Sarah Jane's own personal work, the idea drew quite a smile from her as she pumped the woman's hand.
"Investigative Journalist. I use more adverbs. It sounds like you know the Doctor well indeed, so you must be the brave sort." Sarah Jane's sudden contemporary was warm indeed, though she'd expect nothing less from someone who would walk a ways with the Doctor.
She would have gone on, but the shock haired man was shocking her in turn with his intimate knowledge. Not so much about Aunt Lavinia, but about her favorite scent. Somehow, it seemed personal. But, somehow, it was he. The Doctor. So achingly young looking . . but no, as he smiled at her, she saw eons in his eyes.
Unsettled by his prettiness, she tucked in closer to the Doctor, her familiar, mighty nosed, becaped Doctor, easily sliding her hand into his and standing close enough to let her cheek brush his sleeve. The one she trusted not only with her life, but with any life. He was so brilliant, and so deeply good, if slightly mad. He also had the grace of Houdini, she thought a little defensively looking at this old, young frat boy of a Time Lord standing near.
And he let her travel with her.
"Why would anyone call such creatures angels?" she asked, with a bad taste in her mouth as her mind got back to the task at hand.

Emilie was introducing herself to Sarah Jane as The Doctor's younger self spoke of the what he knew about the Weeping Angels, not much. At his current age, he knew very well how to deal with them, but he'd still gotten caught. Just because you've dealt with them once, does not mean you'll deal with them the same way twice. In fact, that had been his fourth encounter thus far.
"We're alright. They at least have the decency to kill you by letting you live. Unfortunately for them, they sent us here to you. The TARDIS is right there. You give us a lift, and we'll get back on with the proper timeline." At least, he hoped that would be enough to settle the problems, and that his younger self would not give him any pressure on letting him help.
He'd forgotten how Sarah Jane was when they'd first met. A little cold to him now. She'd get used to regeneration eventually, it just would take time. Still, there was a pang in his hearts, it hurt a bit more than it probably should have. Letting it roll off his back, he smiled and nodded to Sarah before she asked about the creatures they were dealing with.
"Good question Sarah, probably because of their appearances. When they cover their faces, they appear to be weeping, and they have wings. So, Weeping Angels. Certainly not the nicest, but far from the worst I've ever dealt with before."

Sarah Jane corrected her term, but that didn't bother Emilie in the slightest. She was too interested in actually being able to meet this young woman. Even if she hurt slightly for her Doctor at the way Sarah Jane, his Sarah Jane, had looked at him.
Well, she wasn't the Sarah Jane he had told her about yet, now was she? So Emilie didn't hold it against her. What did catch her attention, was the disparaging way they kept describing the Angels.
"I thought they were quite lovely, didn't you, Doctor? They're terribly misunderstood creatures. Terribly misunderstood. Well, aside from all that nonsense about not blinking. Doesn't do you a great deal of good not to blink when they come up from behind, now does it?"
Her defensive tone mellowed quickly into a teasing lilt.
"Well, travel without a capsule was quite rough, but still, we're here! Oh, and it is so splendid to meet you both."
Tilting her head back up to meet her Doctor's eyes, Emilie offered him a little smile before centering from her post-wish state, the glimmer of gold fading from her mind again.
"We can go back just like that, then, and make sure they don't break in?"
It was only now that Emilie fully appreciated the fact that the Doctor's TARDIS. That was just as exciting to her as meeting this other Doctor. In a softer whisper, she added, "I'll get to meet her?"

"Then there's no time to lose!" the Doctor declared, clapping his hands together. "Those creatures can't be allowed to run free, especially now that your," - he nodded at his future self - "TARDIS is their target. I'll be able to get you there in no time. And perhaps you'd like some help? They do sound like dangerous creatures, after all."
He was genuinely eager of course, but a part of the Doctor didn't want this encounter with his future self to be just a lift in the TARDIS. He wanted to get to know what kind of man he'd be, what places he'd see, what he would do. At least he still had a bow tie. That was something to look forward to.
"Should we set off now?" he asked, looking at the three of them in turn. He was eager for adventure, and this one appeared to be very promising.
